Geranium Watercolor
Amaryllis Watercolor

Artist's Note This study was completed during the winter of 2003. The geraniums in our solarium were blooming beautifully and the studio was cool enough that the flower in the vase lasted long enough for me to complete the picture in 3 days.

Grapes Watercolor
Artist's Note A small watercolor study of red grapes - one of my favorite watercolors.

Artist's Note Ever since I was a child I have been fascinated with the wonder of plants. This is especially true of the flowers which explode from bulbs. In this large watercolor I tried to record the sequence from bare bulb to full bloom.

Pewter Creamer and Lemon Reference #: Dimensions: Medium: watercolor Other:
This is a study I did in what is called "the English watercolor-drawing" technique. In this method the artist starts with the very palest of hues and adds with a very dry brush layers and layers of stronger pigments.

Hyacinth II Watercolor
Artist's Note Forced bulbs often lose their blooming vigor after the first year, as in the hyacinths, which lose the dense clump of blossoms and resemble their airier cousin, the French-Roman hyacinth.
